My Safe Place, My Boyfriend
Thank you for everything he’s done, for his patience, his understanding, his care, his honesty, his loyalty, and for loving me unconditionally. I love him, and I truly appreciate every little thing he does. He might think some things are small, but for me, they mean so much. Even just his presence makes me happy and it’s already enough. I see all his sacrifices and struggles, and I want everyone to know how much effort he puts into everything he does. He’s patient, kind, and loving in ways that make my heart feel lighter and safe.
It all started back in Grade 10. DG sent me a friend request on Facebook, and we started chatting, also he mentioned that he liked my eyes. I remember jokingly sending me a message “may ga crush bala smo sa room” but all throughout it was him. He was the one sending messages, always checking in, even when I gave cold replies or acted distant. I was so alanganin, but he never gave up. He wrote me letters, gave me flowers, and kept showing his care, no matter what.
In Grade 11, we didn’t communicate much, but he still loved me quietly. He still greeted me, still cared, and never gave up on his feelings. My friends teased us, saying “si phebe di dej oh,” “si dg di phe oh,” something like that. We were giddy, but sometimes I felt annoyed HAHAHAHA. We chatted every day, but it was limited because we felt awkward whenever we saw each other in person. He gave me a gift in December, and I was so shocked and speechless, but I appreciated him so much, so I texted him to say thank you. After that, we started chatting more often. On January 1, 2025, New Year’s Eve, he courted me. I didn’t expect it. I felt nervous and didn’t know what to do because it was my first time, but in the end, I said yes to him.
Then in Grade 12, on January 1, 2026, I officially declared that we were finally official. He cried, and his reaction was genuinely happy, something I will never forget. Seeing him that emotional made me realize how sincere his feelings were. It was such a pure and unforgettable moment for both of us. His efforts truly shown. He pushed through, gave his time and energy, and never stopped showing how much he cared. He brought me around safely, picked me up, treated me without expecting anything in return, and created a space where I could be comfortable being myself. He became my comfort zone, my safe place, and my home.
Looking back, I realize that love is not just about sweet words. It’s about patience, understanding, consistency, and love he’s given me. It’s about someone choosing you again and again. Even when I was cold or unsure, he never wavered. I see all his sacrifices, all his struggles, and the ways he makes life brighter and easier for me. He’s taught me the importance of trust, care, and unconditional love. I won’t lose him, I won’t leave him, and I won’t neglect him because I can’t imagine my life without him. He’s the one who truly understands me, who knows how to handle me, who makes me truly happy, and who genuinely loves me.
I’m so grateful for everything DG has done and continues to do. He’s been my constant, my support, my happiness, and my safe place. And through all of this, I’ve learned to focus on myself too my growth, my happiness, and my dreams while cherishing the love he’s shown me. I believe that with patience, love, and care, good things will always come, and I feel so lucky to have someone like him in my life.
Through this journey, I also learned something important: the right person will never make you question your worth. They will show you, through actions, how much you matter. Love should feel safe, calm, and genuine.
