My Hero, My Papa
My papa is one of the strongest people I know. When our mom left us, I know he suffered deeply. I even saw him cry moments that I will never forget. Seeing him that way broke my heart, because I realized how much pain he was carrying inside. But even through that pain, he chose to stay strong for us. He stood not only as our father, but also as our mother guiding us, protecting us, and doing everything he could to fill the space that was left.
I remember him telling me “skwela kagid mau be ha” because I am his hope. Those words stayed with me. It’s a big responsibility, and pressure but it also motivates me. Knowing that he believes in me, gives me strength to push myself and do better in life. When I feel tired or unmotivated, I remember his sacrifices and I keep going.
One thing that makes my heart so full is when he proudly introduce me to his friends. I’ll never forget how he says, “ara oh ang agot ko. May award na siya.” The way he smiles, the pride in his voice that’s something I treasure deeply. In those moments, I see how proud he is of me, and it makes me want to achieve more, not for pressure, but to make him even happier.
He carried responsibilities that were never easy. He worked hard, sacrificed so much, and put our needs before his own. Even when life became heavy and unfair, he never left us. He stayed. And that alone means everything to me.
Now that I’m growing up, I see his struggles more clearly the silent battles, the tired eyes, the quiet sacrifices, and the worries he never talks about. His love may not always be shown through sweet words or gestures, but it is shown through his actions, his consistency, and his presence. He may not always say “I love you,” but he proves it every single day.
Papa taught me resilience, be kind, be respectful, and be humble. He showed me that even when life hurts, you keep going especially for the people you love. He showed me what real sacrifice looks like.
I want him to know that all his efforts are not wasted. Every sacrifice, every tear, every sleepless night I see them now. And I carry them in my heart as motivation to succeed.
I am so proud to be your daughter, Papa. Thank you for being both my father and my mother. Thank you for choosing us every single day. I promise to study hard and make you proud. No matter how old I get, I will always be your little girl.🥹🥹
